
Lawrence Elmer, MD, PhD
Lawrence Elmer, MD, PhD, is a professor of neurology and chief of the Movement Disorder Division at The University of Toledo in Toledo, OH. He joined the Department of Neurology at UT in 1998. Dr Elmer received his medical and doctorate degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, and completed postgraduate training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He completed his residency in neurology and then his basic science and clinical fellowship in movement disorders at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Dr Elmer has participated as a site investigator in more than 100 clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents for the treatment of Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases and, including co-authorship on publications related to those clinical trials, has published over 100 peer reviewed articles. Dr Elmer is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
