Fernando Pagan, MD, Course Director
Fernando L. Pagan, MD is a board-certified neurologist and Professor and Vice Chairman for the Department of Neurology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC. He is the Director of the Movement Disorders Program and the Medical Director of MedStar Georgetown's National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence, as well as the Fellowship Director for the clinical research done at the Movement Disorders Fellowship at MedStar Georgetown. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Translational Neuroscience Program (TNP). He is a member of the Functional Neurosurgery Team for Movement Disorders, performing preoperative evaluations and programming for deep brain stimulators in Parkinson disease, essential tremor and dystonia. After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown University and completing an internal medicine internship and neurology residency at MedStar Georgetown, he completed a fellowship in movement disorders and magnetic resonance spectroscopy at the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke within the National Institutes of Health. His special interests include Parkinson disease, parkinsonism and other related disorders, ataxia, essential tremor, dystonia, and tics. He is an expert in botulinum toxin treatment for dystonia, tremor, spasticity, and tics.
